Frequently Asked Questions

How long will it take to fix my car?

  • Every repair on a damaged vehicle is unique and depending on the severity of the damage and the availability of parts, the time to repair a vehicle will vary. There is never an exact time for a repiar to be completed; only an estimated time. To understand the complexity of the repair process, please see our Eductaion Center (link). Y&S will always strive to complete repairs as quickly as possible without sacrificing quality.

What is an estimate?

  • Estimates are used in our industry because repairs are not a simple "removal and installation" of a damaged part on your car as a mechanic would perform. The body of the vehicle is severely altered due to the impact of the accident and creates a condition that requires detailed analysis of what repair processes are required to perform the repairs. During the repair process, additional damage may be discovered and will be added as additional charges to the original estimate. Sometimes changes on what parts are required occur during the repair process; and parts price differences may occur once the part is ordered from the original estimate. This is common in autobody repair, and this is why the original work order is called an estimate as the first analysis to perfor the repairs is only estimating what needs to be done to complete repairs.

What type of parts will be used to fix my vehicle?

  • There are three types of parts the may be used on your vehicle depending on your insurance policy requirements or your budget. Please click here for details.

Who pays for my repairs and when do I pay my deductible?

  • If you were involved in an accident and you make a claim with your insurance company for the damage, your insurance company will send an adjuster to the bodyshop of your choice who will write an estimate and issue a check to you less your deductible for the amount estimated. Once the repairs have begun, the bodyshop may find additional damage not on the original estimate and will bill the insurance company for the additional charges. The insurance company will pay the body shop directly for those additional charges. You have the option to sign over the insurance check issued to you to the body shop at the time your drop off your vehicle or at the time repairs are completed.
  • If you were involved in an accident as and you make a claim, as a Claimant, against a third party's insurance company, that insurance company will proceed through the same process and issue a check to you that includes your deductible; they are responsible for your deductible, not you.
  • As Y&S is a DRP (Direct Repair Program) shop for many insurance companies, it is not necessary to have an insurance adjustor write an estimate and issue a check for the repairs. Y&S will begin repairs immediately and bill the insurance company for the repairs against yours or a third party's insurance policy. However in the case it is against your policy, you are responsible for the deductible. This deductible is due at the time repiars are completed and you pick up your vehicle.

What forms of payment are acceptable?

  • Cash, cashiers check, insurance check, credit card up to $250. No personal checks are accepted.

Will the claim affect my insurance rates?

  • In general insurance rates are affected by claims that are caused by your actions. If your vehicle is damaged by a source over which you had no control, chances are this will not affect the cost of your policy.

Does Y&S warranty it's work?

  • Yes. Y&S offers a limitted lifetime warranty. Please click here for details.
